WELCOME TO WIESEL SPORTS
"Expectation and execution. No Excuses, No
Explanations."
-Tony Dungy
I have spent
the last eighteen years gaining the knowledge and
experience I feel is necessary to truly
represent the best interests of my clients.
Wiesel Sports results from exceptionally hard
work and sacrifice, dedication to a profession I
love, my deep passion for the lives and careers
of the women who trust me, and my overriding
dedication and commitment to doing and seeing
excellence in my own life and lives of those who
matter most to me. Wiesel Sports would not be
possible without the never-ending love and
support of my family, the guidance, friendship
and partnership of hundreds of people,
businesses and teams throughout the world, and
the confidence, friendship and trust of the
athletes I am honored to call my clients.
My path to advocating on behalf of athletes
began in 1996 when I was introduced to NBA and
WNBA players being abused/neglected by their
agents. I was shocked at what I saw and heard
about how athletes were mistreated. I couldn't
believe that one human being looked at another
as solely a product to be sold and taken
advantaged of. Already searching for how I could
best use my personal and professional skills and
goals, I immediately knew I had found my
professional calling.
After graduating with a degree in Social Work I
attended law school part-time at night so I
could work for the California Court of Appeal
and the Sacramento County Public Defender's and
District Attorney's offices. I passed the
California State Bar Examination and immediately
began practicing as a litigating attorney. As a
lawyer I developed a deep interest in
analyzing/negotiating contracts, and advocating
on behalf of clients with the most complex legal
issues. I conducted jury/court trials and
advocated before the California Court of Appeal,
Federal Court of Appeals and California Supreme
Court. I feel it is critical for an agent to be
an experienced attorney - to understand contract
language, legal authority, advocacy and
principles of enforcement.
As an agent, I have represented over 200
athletes drafted in American professional sports
leagues. This includes over 50 first round
selections. I have negotiated over 900
professional sports contracts in over 30
countries with over 200 different professional
sports teams. I have also negotiated over 150
marketing and/or speaking engagement contracts
with 50 companies. I have worked on behalf of
WNBA, NBA and NFL starters, WNBA, NBA, NWBL and
NFL drafted rookies, undrafted rookies and free
agents, WNBA All-Stars and Rookies of the Year,
Olympians/National team members, College, NFL
and WNBA Coaches, and first round selections in
four American professional sports leagues. I
created Wiesel Sports as an independent entity
devoted to the representation of athletes in
America and overseas. Wiesel Sports is focused,
selective, driven and dedicated to excellence.
With integrity and honesty, I devote my time and
energy to personally representing a very limited
amount of clients - I don't have an assistant
and my clients know that I am personally and
fully accountable for their careers and
well-being at all times. I am a tireless,
devoted and forceful advocate. I commit whatever
time and energy is necessary to empower my
clients with choices and opportunities. I
provide vision, energy and passion and maintain,
at all times, a level of service and
professionalism worthy of my clients trust and
confidence. I am available for my clients
whenever and wherever they need me. I want to be
the best AND represent the same spectacular
athletes committed to impacting the world around
them. An athlete has one shot at a career they
worked an entire lifetime to experience - I am
aggressive, forceful, committed and refuse to
accept failure.
I am very different - as a man, attorney and
agent. I am simple and straight-forward. What
you see is what you get. I don't give false
hopes and don't tell my clients only the things
they want to hear. My clients mean the world to
me, and I refuse to compromise who I or they
are. I have learned over the years what type of
person/athlete I can share a career and
life-long relationship with. This type of
relationship is critical because an athlete's
professional sports career is a business, and
they must look at themselves as a business
owner. As the head of their business, an
athlete's first employee will be their agent
Here are the 10 characteristics I feel are
critical for the agent-client relationship to
become and remain as healthy and successful as
possible:
-Direct Communication
-Respect Common
-Goals/Hard Work-Ethics and Morality
-Commitment
-Trust
-Professionalism
-Dedication
-Passion for Excellence
An athlete needs to determine who can be counted
on to devote the time and energy necessary to
make the athlete's life and business as
successful as possible - someone focused on and
devoted enough to the athlete to ensure a
consumer (team, potential endorser, fans, etc.)
will hire the athlete and utilize their business
instead of another player's/competitor's. An
athlete must remember who their competition is
and separates from them - an athlete deserve
someone who does not and will not represent
another athlete that will directly compete with
them. While being an agent is a business, it is
also a profession that requires selflessness. An
athlete must determine who will be there for
THEM - through the good times and the bad.
When I commit, I do so with all of me. To be the
most successful, I want and need a client who
will do and give the same. Thank you for
reviewing our website and considering me as a
potential agent. If you feel I have described
who you are or what you want in an agent-athlete
relationship I am eager to meet and/or speak
with you and/or anyone important in your life. I
send my best. |
